Heads Up

Today was Emery's one month doctor's appointment (even though he's four days away from a month old). He weighs over eleven pounds now! And he's 23 and a quarter inches long. Which means he's eating well and growing well, which means he's one happy baby. Which means we're two happy parents so far.

And for a couple of weeks now, he's been doing a crazy thing that he's not supposed to do just yet. He's holding up his head with some bit of control at times. Lying on his belly, he's been able to lift his head and turn it since he was a week old. But at about two weeks, he started holding his head up when he was upright.

He can't do it for long, but he's getting pretty good at it. One day he'll probably be blogging about some major school or career accomplishment. But for now, he's keeping things simple. He's just holding up his head on his own. And we're pretty proud of him for that. Here's some video.

It's like he's saying "hey, look at what I'm doing!!!!" He will probably be crawling by the time he is 2 months :-)

Awesome!!! Your one-month-old son now weighs as much as my 4.5-month-old daughter. Soraya couldn't really hold her head up with any control until at least 6 weeks, more like 8, I think.

Emery is beautiful! I must tell you that Helen watched the video with me, all the while with a huge grin on her face. She even drooled a little bit. He's a heartbreaker already!
